Pfizer Recalls Blood Pressure Drug Lots and Affiliated Generics
Pfizer has recalled several lots of its blood pressure drug Accuretic (quinapril HCl/hydrochlorothiazide) as well as two generic versions of the drug because of possible nitrosamine contamination.
The company said the affected products may contain the nitrosamine N-nitroso-quinapril at levels above the acceptable daily intake, which could increase the risk of developing cancer if consumed long-term.
The company recalled six lots of Accuretic tablets, one lot of quinapril and hydrochlorothiazide tablets and four lots of quinapril HCl/hydrochlorothiazide tablets. The affected lots were distributed in the U.S. and Puerto Rico from November 2019 to March 2022.
Pfizer said no adverse events have been reported in connection with the recalled products.
